Attracting international artists like the Black Keys and Missy Elliot, bringing crowd favourites like De La Soul, and supporting local bands such as Dakota Pearl, it’s not hard to see why Pemberton Music Festival has grown to be one of the most anticipated music festivals in North America.
But if you’ve not managed to get your hands on a ticket, you don’t have to miss out. The awesome folks at Pemberton Music Festival have teamed-up with the Whistler Concert Series for a whole day of free music from bands who will be playing at the festival, over the weekend.
Below, you can listen to the four bands on Soundcloud, so that you can work out who you really want to see (but obviously you want to see all of them).
Sam Roberts Band
The Sam Roberts Band is an alt-rock/inde-rock band fronted by Juno Award-winning Canadian rock singer-songwriter, Sam Roberts. His debut release, The Inhuman Condition became one of the bestselling independent releases in Canadian music history.
The Glorious Sons
The Glorious Sons are a Canadian rock band, who write and play music inspired by the day-to-day grind. “They are the everyman band, with a passion for portraying the lost romance of liquor, women and rock and roll.” – CBC Music
BASECAMP are three producers from Nashville, Tennessee with a flair for creating tempestuous, smoke-filled melodies within their songs. Formed in June 2013, the emerging band has set off on a path of experimentation that consistently pushes the boundaries of R&B and lo-fi electronic music.
Will Ross Band
Will is the former lead singer of local ska band The Jolly Rogers, Will played with The Flatliners, IllScarlett, Catch 22, and The Planet Smashers. As a solo artist, Will’s influences range from almost everything. His songs have a distinctive reggae-rock feel, accompanied by his soulful harmonica.
