Whistler Village Beer Festival: A Foodie’s Guide

Whistler Village Beer Festival has quickly become a staple on the must-do BC events list, and it’s not hard to see why the local’s favourite fest is attracting foodies from far and wide.

Here’s 2016’s delicious line-up of foodie feasts to nourish even the most seasoned beer lover.

September 17th: Brickworks Brewers Lunch

Where: The Brickworks Public House, Whistler

When: 10.30am – 12.30pm

The Brickworks Brewers Brunch is the perfect kick-off to the Whistler Village Beer Festival Main Event. Don’t miss your chance to experience a three-course brunch, complete with perfectly paired brews, before you take in all the action at the Whistler Village Beer Festival.  

1st Course
Pancake with ricotta, smoked salmon, preserved lemon & pickled shallots
Paired with Vancouver Island’s Blackberry Saison

2nd Course
Avocado on toast served with a soft boiled egg & truffled poached prawn
Paired with Big Rock Brewery’s Grasshopper Wheat Ale

3rd Course
Ling Cod with a mandarin & fennel salad served on fingerling potatoes
Paired with Bridge Brewing’s Bourbon Blood Orange Wheat Ale 

September 16th: Barley & The Beast

Where: Grill & Vine, Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler.

When: 6pm – 9pm

Barley & The Beast returns for its third annual appearance at Whistler Village Beer Festival.  Always a sell out event, this indulgent dinner features 5 courses of locally sourced ingredients perfectly paired with local craft beers from host Matt Dean, brewmaster of Whistler Brewing Company.

1st Course
Smoked Onion Soup | Apple Wood Cheddar
Paired with Function Junction Pale Ale

2nd Course
Coffee Crusted Venison Carpaccio | Autumn Greens, Black Tusk Ale Balsamic Reduction
Paired with Black Tusk Ale

3rd Course
Line Caught Coho | Pemberton Vegetables, Marinated Artichoke Barigoule
Paired with Bear Paw Honey Lager

4th Course
Pan Seared Scallop & Pork Belly Confit | Quinoa Risotto, Cranberry Gastrique
Paired with Peak to Pier Witbier

5th Course
Spent Grain Carrot Cake | Citrus Spiced Sorbet, Lost Lake IPA Syrup
Paired with Lost Lake IPA

September 15th: Beefsteak with Warless

Where: Dubh Lynn Gate, Whistler

When: Doors, 7PM | Live Music, 8:30PM. Plus Vancouver band, Warless.

An all-you-can-eat Sirloin Steak dinner lubricated liberally with beer, boisterous conversation and furiously fun live music. In lieu of napkins and cutlery, diners will be outfitted with their own apron and served meat on disks of bread. Not for vegetarians or children. Rush seating so get here early!

Souvenir aprons, live entertainment and an initial pitcher of Steamworks beer will be provided for the evening. Additional pitchers will be $15.
