We believe that Valentines Day isn’t about chocolates and fancy meals, it’s about creating memories that you can look back on in years to come. Memories that make you laugh out loud and smile when no-one’s there.
The key to creating these kind of life-long memories is to think outside the ordinary and do things that are new to both of you.
Here’s a list of our favourite things to do on a Valentines Day (or any other time of the year) road trip weekend to Whistler:
Day 1, 9am: Drive the epic Sea To Sky Highway

Day 1, 9.30am: Savour the little (& big) things at Lighthouse Park
Lighthouse Park marks the point where the Burrard Inlet meets the Howe Sound and is home to West Vancouver’s last standing first-growth Douglas Fir trees – some of which are over 500 years old.

Day 1, 10.45am: Get a 360º view from the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge
Day 1, 2pm: Fat biking through the Whistler forest
If you’re new to fat biking, it’s the same as regular mountain biking except the bikes have giant, over-sized tires that allow you to ride on snow. You can ride on hiking trails, biking trails and snowshoe trails, and bikes can be rented from Comor Sports, right across the street from the Summit Lodge.
Fat bike rental Whistler, per hour: $15 + $5 for each extra hour
Full day: $40
Bonus: Comor Sports lets you pay for the bikes when you return instead of before you go, which allows you the freedom to just give it a try and see how you like it. If you love it you can stay out all day, and if you don’t you can take the bike back and just pay for what you used.
It’s always summer somewhere…even when it’s winter ? Have you tried #fatbiking yet? You should. Bikes available to rent from @whistlerolympic park in the picture-perfect Callaghan Valley, or @comorgoplayoutside in #whistler village. —————————————————-? @justajeskova via @gowhistler on Facebook, taken on trail at the Whistler Olympic Park. —————————————————- #fatbikes #bikelife #bikeride #instabike #snowbike #snowwhite #snowday #westcoast #pnwlife #thatpnwlife #pnwonderland #vancitybuzz #vancityhype #whistler #callaghanvalley #enjoycanada #tourcanada #parkscanada

Day 1, 6pm: Toast to your adventures at Bar Oso
Bar Oso is our new favourite spot in Whistler. Opened at the end of 2015, Bar Oso is the little sister to Whistler’s infamous Araxi restaurant. Serving small Spanish-influenced, house-made charcuterie and delicious craft cocktails, Bar Oso is a welcome addition to Whistler for people who like the creative culture of Vancouver’s food and drink scene.

Day 1, 9pm: Grab a hot chocolate & cozy up next to the fire
After a long day of exploring the mountains, what’s more perfect than a hot chocolate? Grab a mug and head to either the hot tub, or cozy up next to the fire in your room and get ready to do it all again tomorrow.
Is there anything better in winter than a hot chocolate after a long day skiing? Whether our guests have been skiing in resort, exploring the backcountry, or wandering the village, we can guarantee our free #hotchocolate station in the lobby is always be popular! Maybe this is one of the reasons we were awarded “Canada’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel” award 2 years in a row ? ——————————————– ? @localwanderer ——————————————– #summitlodge #localwanderer #whistler #hotellobby #boutiquehotel #littlethingswhistler #whistlervillage #hotcocoa #marshmallow #omnomnom #luxtravel
Day 2, 11am: Snuggle up in the Peak 2 Peak Gondola
After breakfast wrap up warm and head for the Whistler Blackcomb mountains. You don’t need to ski or snowboard to enjoy the incredible alpine scenery, just pick up a sightseeing ticket from a Whistler Blackcomb ticket window. You can also ask our front desk team to pre-book them for you 72 hours in advance.
Bonus: sightseeing tickets are only $49.95 when you book ahead
If you don’t want to ski, ? you can still get up on the mountain ? with the Peak 2 Peak gondola at @gowhistler. ?? From there you can explore high-alpine hiking trails, ? or just sit back and enjoy the view from a glass-bottom gondola! ? #SORELwhistler #adventureculture

Day 2, 11.30am: Take Valentines photos with the Inukshuk
Day 2, 1pm Escape to a secluded look out over Whistler village
Some of the most spectacular photographs of Whistler are taken from across the valley on Flank Trail at the base of Rainbow Mountain. This photo was taken at the lookout and shows Alta Lake below and both Whistler and Blackcomb in the distance.
To get there you’ll need a pair of snowshoes and the walk is about 3 – 4 hours in total, but well worth it! Guests can rent snowshoes from the front desk for free. They’re given out on a first come, first served basis, so if you need them all day it’s best to get them early.
